My first pregnancy ?...morning sickness

Tagged As: Pregnant Morning Sickness

Question:
I am only 4.5 weeks along (just found out Friday after IVF) and I am throwing up every day (not just morning, anytime). I even got sick when my HCG was less than 100. Today it was twice, once on an empty stomach and once after a very light dinner. I am keeping crackers by my bed, ginger ale in the fridge, but this is yucky. I threw up on myself in the car yesterday on the way to the pharmacy and had to go home. I'm almost afraid to go anywhere. Is this normal this early? Also my abdomen from the breasts down feels like I've been doing situps and after I eat just a little, it is painful and tight. This morning I felt like I was filled with gas that wouldn't come out, but I'm not sure that's what it was. Even though my E2 didn't even go above 2000 during IVF, I'm wondering if I'm a little hyperstimulated. I've felt sore stomach muscles since right after retrieval and now it seems worse. I'm taking 2ccs of PIO a day, so maybe that's causing these weird symptoms? I don't know. Advice is appreciated. My mom said she had m/s for the first 3 months but I was pregnant in May/June and didn't have this, and this time, it has started so early. I'm not complaining (yet), but wondering how bad this could get and what I should do. It's too early to call my OB for a prescription, I'm sure.

Answer:
It is often said that a pregnancy that results in ms is a healthy pregnancy. Normally if a pregnancy is non-viable, mother doesn't experience much, or indeed any, ms. So take this as wonderful news that your little one is doing just what he/she should :-) I didnt have any morning sickness and I have an 8 month little girl after 2 1/2 years of infertility and m/c's. I think everyone is different. Some have very bad ms and others dont. I had morning, noon and nighttime sickness,,,, I could keep NOTHING down at times... I began to eat only popsicles, sherbet and drink gatorade/powerade. I lost 7 pounds my first trimester. I just told myself that this is normal and will pass. Try just popsicles for a while... that way you stay hydrated.... It can be and as the other people replying have said it's a good sign. I'm now 8 weeks gone and I've had bad ms for about three weeks. During that time I've lost 14 pounds in weight (which I could afford to lose!!) and it is only now starting to ease off. I still feel sick about twice a day but not as severe as it was before. It can be truly miserable when you are hungry but cannot keep anything down and I'm sorry its making you feel horrible. The main thing that was making me sick was trapped wind (or gas) and I used standard indigestion remedies to help those symptoms. I hope that things ease for you and you can progress and enjoy this PG.
