Question:
Increasingly, in the mornings when I wake up, I feel just awful and sick to my stomach. Generally if I have something light to eat and a glass of ice water, it's been going away, but I've even had it intermittently throughout the day. What could be going on here? I thought morning sickness was long gone for me! :)
Answer:
The heartburn made me sick that late into the pregnancy, I had it really bad. Do you have heartburn? Have you tried eating something right before you go to bed at night? It could be from not having something on your stomach during the night. I don't have any real help for you except to sympathize. I'm due July 3rd and I've been sick/nauseated the whole time. (Mornings are particularly bad.) I just tough it out. Which is really horrid some mornings when I'd rather just crawl back into bed and pretend I can lay there for any kind of extended period of time. :) I do get occasional heartburn, but this is a different feeling entirely. Queasy and shaky. And my one-hour glucose reading is a tad high, so I've been trying to eat something before bed anyhow to keep a little something in my system... oh, well, I guess it's one more mystery I may never solve. Oh, man, me too. Although not in the mornings, usually it's in the afternoons/early evenings. Anyway, my OB said that she thinks it's hormone surges as we prepare for birth (my EDD is a week after yours). I've also had horrendous, vomiting reflux. Vanilla ice cream and Tagamet (1600mg/day) have changed my life. Hunger? Nausea is often a sign of hunger, and if your stomach's being pressed by baby and you're getting less into it than you used to, you'll be getting hungry quicker than you'd expect. Especially overnight.
