Question:
My husband and I just tried for the first time to get pregnant. The following day, I got very nauseous. I thought it would be way to early to get sick, but some people at work said sometimes this happens? Does anyone know how early morning sickness can start?
Answer:
I started vomiting just a few days after I became pg. (way before I missed AF) I continued to vomit (up to 20 times a day) for the rest of my pg. My situation is unusual I know, but it does happen. With child number one I was nauseated the day my period was due. It never came. I knew I was pregnant at 1 day late because I felt SO ill. Nausea and cramps but no backache. I've read that some women get sick from the day after they conceive. I think there are a lot of variations to what is considered normal. Personally, I was only mildly nauseous in the first 2-4 weeks, then got REALLY sick (and still am!) at about 5-6 weeks. In my case, I never had morning sickness. However, I was more easily nauseated by things that would normally only be slightly problematic. For example, cleaning up cat puke prior to getting pregnant would cause me to gag, but that's it. Usually cleaning up cat puke is DH's job, but when I was about 10 weeks pregnant, my husband was out of town, and I *had* to do it. I lost my dinner in the process of cleaning it up. It was wierd because I didn't feel bad in the least. I felt fine just before, and fine as soon as I finished. I just...vomited. And you know what's wierdest? I've gotten MUCH better at dealing with vomit now that I've had a child. It's still not pleasant, but cleaning up after the cats barely causes me any problem at all anymore. And my kid hasn't vomited all that much in her life.
