HCG, false ept, feeling pregnant?!?!

Tagged As: Ept Pregnancy

Question:
I didn't know what to name this one! This is my 'second' pregnancy so I am a little more sober than the first attempt at getting pregnant and a little more wise about what pregnancy looks like - I thought/think I am but I have mixed results. I took an EPT test the morning I first missed my period and after 20 minutes a very faint line appaeared. I took a second test three days later - under 20 minutes later a VERY faint line appeared. I went for a test at the doctor's today (stick test) - same thing happened. THey ordered a blood test but I have to wait for results. What could be going on? is my hcg too low to be seen - is low hcg a problem? They ran a progesterone test too - does that mean there is something wrong? My first pregnancy - I found out I was pregnant by a blood test about 3 weeks after I conceived ( I didn't know I was pregnant and didn't try one of these little stick tests so I cannot say the same thing happned last time.) AM I having an ectopic pregnancy? Am I just not pregnant and not having my period. I have lots of questions and the lab tech was all I had and she would offer no help.

Answer:
With my first two pregnancies, a stick test wasn't positve until a week after my period was due, and even then it was faint. One ended in a mis-carriage, and one ended in a healthy baby boy who was born exactly on his due date. The reason I didn't test positive right away? I ovulated late, so I didn't get pregnant when most people do. Now, with this pregnancy I tested positive right away as soon as I missed my period...I ovulated at exactly 14 days into my cycle(when most people do). So, my guess is that you just ovulated late. I wouldn't worry about it, you probably are pregnant :) I tested negative for at least two months with all 6 pregnancies (stick tests, blood tests, the whole nine yards). Drove my doctors nuts for various reasons. This time around it almost resulted in a hysterectomy (long story). The last doctor that I had I showed up in his office thinking that I had food poisoning, and it turned out that I was pregnant. Even though the test came back negative, and knowing my history of these things, was convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was pregnant. I was. I think that the reason that so many different type tests were done on you was in hopes that one of them would show something that that others didn't. It is quite possible that you are pregnant.
