Question:
What are some reasons for home pregnancy test failures? My girlfriend has missed her period twice in a row. After 3 weeks she missed her first period, we tested with the home pregnancy test, and it came out negative. But her period never came, and she missed her second one. So after a week she missed the second one, we tested it again, and it came out negative once more. Are there some people who test negative on the test even though she's pregnant, because something is a little off with her body? Maybe some undiagnosed illness?

i missed my period twice in a row too before we found out that i was pregnant, we used pregnancy test but it turned out negative. Our Dr. said it might be that there wasnt enough HCG on my urine that time thats why it wasnt detected by the pregnancy test. Negative result usually are not reliable so test it again, possitive result on the other hand is surely possitive :) I tested Negative in November and December. I didn't miss, but I didn't have a normal period either. I had non-stop spotting. The Dr. gave me Provera to sort things out. Then I had NO period. Naturally, in January, I was positive. Not thinking I was pregnant way back in November, we went in and they did an ultrasound for dating and boy, what a shocker!! Fingers were waving at us! :) So, there are many reasons a test can turn out to be a false negative. It's not necessarily the norm. If someone is worried about it, request a blood test! I wish I had. :) Wow that musta been a shocker! haha I think I am going to have to do a blood test. I have not had my period and it does not feel as though it is on it's way. My breasts ALWAYS swell before hand even if they are not sore and they have not changed size at all so I know the period is not on it's way any time soon. I'm afraid that not only am I pregnant but I am in your situation because my last period was different than normal...usually it only lasts 3 days with a day of spotting...but with spotting my last one lasted 7 days (which I thought was really unusual at the time) I've done two negatives, one at home, one at the doctor, but I'm starting to get a sore stomach/cramps every day at 5:30pm (3 days in a row now), I've got the most stuffy nose I've ever had in my entire life and I don't have a cold at all...plus I haven't gained a pound but my abdomen is swollen and hard -- as if I'd gained 2-3 pounds of muscle -- not the way it swells with water before a period, and I have to pee like 10 times a day! This is just getting so frustrating. We're not trying to get pregnant and this whole limbo thing is starting to piss me off to be frank about it. My bf knows I've taken 2 negatives so he's pretending I'm not pregnant at all but I can't do that...if I'm not pregnant what happened to my period? I've never been late before and I'm really healthy right now so it doesn't make sense to be skipping one *sigh* But I can't get to the doctor again until friday/saturday so I just have to suffer haha
