Am I pregnant?

Tagged As: blood pregnancy test

Question:
Ok, so it's been like a three week process now, and I still have no idea if I'm pregnant. I have tested negative two times, but I have read about severall women who only showed positive on a home test after a few months. I went through about two weeks of nausea and even had constipation, but I thought it was a stomach virus since that seems to be going around...but this was directly after I had a short abnormal period. I am on the pill, so this all compounds to make me more period, since I had trouble with cylcing in January. It is now march and I thought everything should be fine, but my mom is convinced that I am pregnant. I now have a stuffy nose, and I'm hoping it is due to allergies...and I am waiting for my next period. It should come in about 5 days. But the last one was about 3-4 days shorter than normal...and I always have a 7 day period, that was my first warning sign. So, was it just a stomach virus, or am I pregnant. I'm freaking out because I just don't know, and it may still be too early to tell. If my next period is wierd, then I guess I should just go for the blood test, but how soon do they show if you are or aren't pregnant" I just don't know what to think. Somebody help! I need some advice here.  Confused in Texas

Answer:
Get a pregnancy blood test and find out for sure. There is no point in driving yourself crazy 'wondering'. Get thee to a doctor  :)

We had a similar question earlier:
Question:
I took a blood pregnancy test on the day my period was due and it came back negative.  I am now 10 days late.  When should I test again"  Are there other reasons why I could be so late"  I have been sick lately.
Answer:
Could that be it" Blood tests are virtually 100% accurate: however, because you took one so early on, it is possible that if you miscalulated your ovulation date, and you ovulated a week later than you thought you did, that you were testing only a week after ovulation rather than two weeks after.  So its possibly worth testing again, just in case.  However, its far more likely that you either ovulated late because of your illness, or, even more likely than that, that you haven't ovulated at all.  If you don't ovulate, you can't have a period.  A period is *caused* by ovulation and follows two weeks (or so) later.  If you haven't ovulated by 5 or 6 weeks after your last period, then you probably aren't going to, and you will either have to wait to have some annovulatory bleeding, or you can have your period brought on by Provera.
