Question:
Can someone direct me to a support group where someone has been in good health with no ibs or divict. and has been under stress and severe pain, and not going to a nearby ER as his doc is in downtown of old city where we live close to a University Hospital which is way far from downtown hosp, and finally got my husband to ER downtown where his doctor is, (not in our area a suburb sorry if not spelled right. know it is not) Well, hello, husband had a perforated bowel and had surgery Monday. He looked great Monday and Tuesday. Couldn't get down there Thursday due to things I had to do, as I am having Psychical Therapy on my left foot due to Achilles Tendon Repair and heel bone being re-attached to heel bone with two screws since August. Went to visit hubby Thursday night and he has a fever of 100 and is yellow. He has a cough when he talks. He is being fed bad tasting broth, jello liquids. Did I mention he has a temporary colostomy bag for now and later has to have the bowel connected to the other bowel? He is 68 yrs old, no health problems, good physicals, then all of a sudden this!
Answer:
You need to be concerned about him looking yellow. This is a sign of jaundice. They need to check his liver levels immediately, and find out what is going on. This could be life-threatening. I wont even tender a guess as to what is going on, other than to say that a fever of 100 with jaundice is NOT normal after this type of operation, and he needs emergency medical attention.
